Singapore, 10 July 2018 – To help Singaporeans see better and live better, Videre[i] collaborates with Johnson & Johnson Vision to enhance the traditional optical retail industry with a new, revolutionary vision care concept store. Focused on promoting optimal vision for life, Videre offers a comprehensive range of eye examinations and services personalised for each customer through all stages of life, from early detection of refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia, presbyopia and astigmatism) to myopia control and a broad spectrum of disease screening.
Videre is also the world’s first vision care concept store that retails 100% ACUVUE brand contact lenses along with retail space dedicated to Singapore’s first ACUVUE experiential zone.
Personalised eye examinations to meet evolving vision care needs
Singapore has one of the highest rates of childhood myopia in the world, where 83% of young adults are myopic.[ii] At the other end of the spectrum, cataract continues to be the major cause of visual impairment among elderly adults. A 2017 study showed that 68% of the respondents with visually significant cataract were not aware of their condition.[iii]
As eye health needs to evolve at every stage of life, Videre has tailored its portfolio of examination services for four different age groups:
- 4 to 16 years old: myopia management, colour deficiency, eye teaming, lazy eye screening.
- 17 to 34 years old: digital eye fatigue, colour deficiency, glaucoma screening and Keratoconus detection.
- 35 to 44 years old: digital eye fatigue, cataract detection, glaucoma screening, diabetic retinopathy screening.
- 45 years and above: presbyopia management, cataract detection, glaucoma screening, diabetic retinopathy screening and age-related macular degeneration screening.
World’s first 100% ACUVUE brand contact lens store along with retail space dedicated to Singapore’s first ACUVUE experiential zone
As a strategic partner of Johnson & Johnson Vision, Videre is the world’s first vision care concept store to retail 100% ACUVUE brand contact lenses. With the comprehensive selection of ACUVUE brand contact lenses suited for patients with different correction vision needs, the offerings from Johnson & Johnson Vision are aligned with Videre’s vision to tailor eye health solutions for customers with different needs.
To enhance the brick-and-mortar experience in Videre, retail space spanning 830 square feet is dedicated to Singapore’s first interactive ACUVUE experiential zone.
Featuring national athletes including basketballer Ng Han Bin, high jumper Michelle Sng and footballer Irfan Fandi, the ACUVUE experiential zone leverages digital technology to promote the importance of healthy vision while pursuing an active, high-performance lifestyle.
An interactive sporting arena has been installed to simulate the challenges of playing sports when one has impaired vision. Customers can challenge national athletes at shooting basketballs into hoops while experiencing the simulated effects of progressive myopia, or defend the goalpost while experiencing the simulated effects of worsening astigmatism. There are also multi-media installations to educate customers about contact lens health and myths as well as touch-screen displays to help customers look to find the ideal contact lenses that suit their high-performing lifestyle.
“We are very delighted to work with a trusted company such as Johnson & Johnson Vision, who believes in our vision of providing personalised eye health experience through all stages of life. Videre is a new revolutionary retail model that goes beyond retailing eyewear. We have a comprehensive portfolio of eye examinations that are personalised for customers at different stages of life, to help them detect eye conditions and diseases conditions as early as possible, and to intervene with appropriate vision correction needs and ophthalmology services through our network of W Eye Clinics,” said Francis Wong, Chief Executive Officer, Videre.
Beyond the offline, brick and mortar experience in Videre, customers can take charge of their eye health journey through Johnson & Johnson Vision’s MyACUVUE, an end-to-end mobile app. Through this app, Videre customers will receive a holistic and personalised experience, from receiving eye health tips, making e-appointments to choosing optometrist for their eye examination.
